DESCRIPTION:This workshop is designed for young musicians to experience rhythmic exercises with professional percussionist\, Fabio Pirozzolo. \n  \nFabio Pirozzolo is an Italian drummer\, multi-percussionist and singer currently based in Boston\, Massachusetts. Originally from Terracina\, Italy\, he started his career as a folk percussionist\, playing Italian frame drums tamburello and tammorra\, in one of the most famous folk groups in his area. This experience gave him the opportunity to travel throughout Europe\, playing concerts and giving lectures on regional Italian frame drum techniques. A summa cum laude Berklee College of Music graduated\, he performs in virtually any genre of music from jazz to world wusic to rock.

SUMMARY:Februus Duo Concert
DESCRIPTION:  \nThe Februus Duo is comprised of pianist and poetess Shizuyo Le Nestour\, and flutist and conductor Orlando Cela. Februus Duo’s program encompasses all time periods and styles\, being equally comfortable performing music from the Baroque period\, contemporary music\, and anything in between. Februus has performed in the US and Europe\, having premiered a few works in its two-year existence. \nAbout the name – Februus means “purifier” and it was the god of purification in ancient Roman religion. Februus is possibly named in honor of the more ancient Februa\, the spring festival of washing and purification. Februus’ holy month was Februarius (of Februa)\, hence English February\, a month named for the Februa/februalia spring purification festival. \nShizuyo Le Nestour was born in Nara\, Japan. She received a Master of Arts in Piano Performance from the Osaka College of Music in Japan and a concert artist diploma from the École Normale de Musique de Paris by unanimous consent. Her new CD\, “Shizuyo in Boston\, 2010” is based on the compositions that were submitted for her recital at Berklee in 2010. She gave a solo piano recital in Kyoto\, Japan in spring 2014. Ms. Le Nestour is a pianist\, poet and expert in French vocal technique. She is a resident of Paris\, France. \nVenezuelan born flutist Orlando Cela is known for his engaging performances using imaginative programming of diverse repertoire. Mr. Cela has performed around the US\, Europe and Asia\, has commissioned and premiered over one hundred works\, and has lectured in universities and festivals in the US\, Germany\, and China.

She gained a Masters (with Academic Honours) in Contemporary Improvisation from New England Conservatory. \n\nInternational credits include recording with Herbie Flowers (Sky/T Rex) in the UK\, performing with Jon Lord (Deep Purple) in Switzerland\, at the wedding of “Posh Spice” to David Beckham in Ireland\, Montepulciano Opera Festival Orchestra in Italy\,  an International Music Festival in the West Bank Palestine in 2011 – also teaching at Al Kamandjati in Ramallah. Stateside credits include performing with Simon Shaheen\,  & recording with the Arabic Fusion ensemble\, “ZilZala”\, Mimi Rabson’s “Strings Theory Trio”\, singer song-writer Alan Williams’\, “Birdsong at Morning”\, & the Boston-based Jazz Composers Alliance. Summer 2012 saw her explore microtonal notes between “the notes” with monster guitarist Dave “Fuze” Fiuczynski’s unique “Planet Microjam Institute” at the Jazz Festival in Genoa\, Italy. Her debut recording as lead\, “StarStuff” jazz-infected\, synesthetic inspired & trans-stylistic originals\, was born in 2009: “A richly beautiful album.  In a league-of-its-own brilliance” (Neal Richardson\, Splash Point Music\, UK) \n\nSince seats are limited\, please R.S.V.P. by April 20!
