John Manjiro ~ The Man Who Crossed The Ocean ~

The featured piece of this event is “Adventures of John Manjiro” for narration and piano, which is based on the life story of Manjiro Nakahama, also known as John Manjiro. He was a Japanese fisherman who was ship-wrecked and later rescued and raised in Fairhaven, Massachusetts by Captain Whitfield. John Manjiro later went back to Japan and contributed to opening the country of Japan to the west.
